Scute

Green Sea Turtles have non-overlapping Scutes.

A Scute or Scutum is a horny, chitinous or bony external plate or scale. They are mainly found on tortoises, turtles, and crocodiles.



The term is also used to describe the scales of some armored mammals, such as armadillos.
